Whitewater Rafting

The Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI) has the most accessible and variable whitewater course in the world, and the guided raft trip is our most popu lar experience for families, groups, individuals and company outings. Check out the menus to the side for details on weather and cancellations, and how to prepare for a raft trip.

ASCI's Whitewater Course:
Test your timing, reflexes and teamwork on the world’s only adjustable whitewater sports venue that offers class I - IV whitewater in a “controlled” environment without typical river hazards such as downed trees (strainers), undercut rocks and places for foot entrapment. We do, however, educate you about those hazards for your overall knowledge of river safety, enjoyment and awareness.

ASCI's “conveyor” conveniently transports you from the finish pond to start pool, eliminating the hassles and time spent on vehicle shuttles from take-out to put-in with traditional whitewater experiences. ASCI is a premier learning and training center for whitewater rafting and kayaking. Expert guides, instructors and former U.S. Team members on staff ensure high quality and consistent teaching methods.

ASCI Guided Rafting:
ASCI leads fully guided raft trips on its mountaintop whitewater course in state-of-the-art self-bailing 6 person rafts. The entire experience lasts 2 hours, which includes 20-30 minutes of outfitting and a safety orientation. A trip includes 5-8 descents down the course, but each raft determines the speed and intensity of the experience. Guests can raft more or less depending on their comfort, stamina and ability. Come and paddle for 2 hours and get on with your day, or hang-out and watch the action! ASCI offers two levels of guided rafting: the “Deep Creek Rapids,” Class III-IV and “Cascades,” Class II-III. Consult our daily water schedule for dates and times. Minimum age is 10 years old for the “Deep Creek Rapids,” and 7 years old for the “Cascades.” A parent must accompany children ages 7-9. Minimum weight for all trips is 50 lbs.

ASCI High Adventure Guided Rafting:
To take your rafting thrills to the next level, ASCI leads guided high adventure rafting trips on the whitewater course. With a maximum of 3 guests per boat, these smaller rafts are highly maneuverable and more sensitive to the nuances of whitewater action. Surfing, eddy snagging, ferrying and general river exploration is central to the high adventure experience. Once you’ve mastered the high adventure level, you might be ready for a trip down the wild rivers of West Virginia or Garrett County’s own Upper Yough (Class IV-V)

ASCI's River Manager determines maximum daily course capacity-please feel free to call us to check the latest conditions.
