Welcome to ASCI Adventures!
Interested in your own Adventure?
WHITEWATER - ASCI's man-made river channel (located at the top of Wisp Resort in Deep Creek Lake, MD) is the world's only mountaintop whitewater course, and can be enjoyed by beginners, families and paddling enthusiasts.
CLIMBING - In addition to its 16 acre mountaintop campus at Wisp Resort, ASCI manages the Fork Run Recreation Area, a 550 acre forest with rock climbing, bouldering, mountain biking, hiking and geocaching. ASCI's specialty is a guided climb and rappel at Fork Run's "Ledges and Boulders."
EVENTS - ASCI is home to international-caliber whitewater events, festivals and adventure sport competitions. After four whitewater national championships in three years, ASCI represents an ideal venue for adventure sport competitions and festivals, including running, biking and bouldering.
GIFTS - Visit ASCI's unique "Mountaintop Shop," Maryland's most adventurous gift shop. In addition to finding adventure sport gifts and ASCI memorabilia, you can buy local art and shop from ASCI's unique toy and game selection.
VISIT US! - Whether on vacation, a business trip, seeking instruction or organizing a group adventure, visit us! New for 2010!
The Adventuresports Institute (ASI), ASCI’s education partner based at Garrett College, will be leading adventure sport instruction and clinics at the Fork Run Recreation Area. Starting with rock climbing, rappelling, mountain biking, hiking and Geocaching, ASI’s experienced college staff focus on the fundamentals of outdoor enjoyment, skill instruction and risk management.
"Adventure Sports" have deep roots in Garrett County, dating back to hosting the 1972 Olympic trials in whitewater kayaking on the Savage River. The Adventuresports Institute was the first college degree program in adventure sports management (starting in 1992). The Adventure Sports Center International, with the whitewater course and the Fork Run Recreation Area, provides ASI students a prime learning laboratory, and the partnership provides students and the general public a comprehensive gateway to adventure sport experiences.
